Frequently Asked Questions About SLD
Still have questions?
WhatsApp us — we’ll answer and confirm your vehicle’s status, free.
WhatsApp usMy palm-oil lorries operate deep in Sabah's interior, around Kinabatangan — can SLD still be fitted?+
Yes. We arrange installation with JPJ-recognised workshops and suppliers serving Sabah. For estate-based fleets, we plan the most practical location and date — for example when your lorries come down to Sandakan or Lahad Datu. WhatsApp us your fleet's location and we'll work out a suitable arrangement.
How long does SLD arrangement take in Sabah compared to Peninsular Malaysia?+
Lead times in Sabah can differ from the Peninsular because of East Malaysia logistics and unit availability. We don't promise same-day installation — instead we give you a realistic schedule once you share your location and vehicle count over WhatsApp.
Is SLD enforcement already in full force in Sabah?+
Not yet — implementation is phased and the retrofit phase is currently in a grace period. The requirement is still coming, though, so it's better for Sabah operators to plan installation early rather than wait for a summons. WhatsApp us for a quote.
What is an SLD (speed limiter)?+
An SLD or speed limiter is an electronic device that caps a vehicle’s top speed at 90 km/h (with an 85 km/h warning), complying with the international UN R89 standard.
Is SLD mandatory in Malaysia?+
Yes, for certain commercial vehicle categories — goods lorries over 3,500 kg and buses — under JPJ’s phased enforcement (Oct 2025, Jan 2026, Jul 2026).
Which vehicles need SLD?+
Lorries over 3,500 kg, prime movers, trailers, express/tour/factory/school buses and related commercial vehicles. WhatsApp us to confirm your vehicle’s status.
